da dobrowin: Having already commenced talks to sign Tolu Arokodare, Wolverhampton Wanderers are now reportedly eyeing a late swoop to sign another impressive striker.
Latest on Wolves' Arokodare move
da 888: With Fabio Silva set to join Borussia Dortmund, Wolves have instantly shifted their focus towards Arokodare. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Midlands club have commenced talks to sign the KRC Genk forward, who could hand Vitor Pereira’s frontline the added depth in quality that it’s been lacking since Matheus Cunha’s departure earlier this summer.
After scoring 23 goals in all competitions last season, the Nigerian forward could be the perfect partner to Jorgen Strand Larsen this season instead of becoming the Norwegian’s replacement.
Whilst Newcastle United have submitted two bids to sign the Wolves forward, both have been rejected and fresh reports have indicated that Strand Larsen will not be allowed to leave Molineux this summer.
The line from Wolves so far has been that Arokodare would simply be replacing Silva rather than anything else. Pereira also recently had his say on Strand Larsen’s future after he scored two goals in a dramatic Carabao Cup win against West Ham United.
Romano: £26m star now set for medical with deal sealed ahead of Wolves move
The Old Gold are set to land their man…
BySean Markus Clifford Aug 26, 2025
He told reporters: “If it’s my decision, of course [Strand-Larsen stays]. Of course. Because he’s a very important player. It’s not only about the technical and tactical, it’s about the character. He’s a player with character.”
However, the manager did also admit that every player has a price and recent rumours that Wolves have set their sights on a second striker alongside Arokodare would suggest that this saga is far from over.
Wolves now eyeing late Alberto swoop
According to Molineux News, Wolves are now eyeing a late swoop to sign Yuri Alberto, who Pereira is a huge admirer of. The pair worked together during Pereira’s time at Corinthians and could now reunite as those in the Midlands set their sights on a late move alongside Arokodare.
The talented striker struck 31 goals in all competitions for Corinthians last season and would be more than capable of firing Wolves to safety. But the rumours of his potential arrival should spark some concern about Strand Larsen’s future.
Whilst Arokodare is a target to replace Silva, a move for a second striker would indicate that Strand Larsen could be heading for the exit door with Alberto lined up as his immediate replacement. Of course, there’s still plenty of dominoes to fall for this to be the case, but Wolves will be bracing themselves for a frantic few days.
Dubbed “superb” by South American football expert Nathan Joyes last November, Alberto would at least be the calibre of forward good enough to replace a talent of Strand Larsen’s level.
da bwin: This weekend, Everton will have their first-ever Premier League game at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium as David Moyes’ side will face Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton.
da realsbet: Ahead of the fixture, Hurzeler has spoken about what he expects from Moyes’ side: “Moyes’ teams are always very organised and difficult to create chances [against]. You have to be awake all of the time. [Jack] Grealish is a great signing and I’m sure he will help Everton, he is an unbelievable talent.”
“The atmosphere [at Goodison Park] was a special atmosphere so I expect the same this weekend. We are looking forward to seeing the new stadium but we are not there to be the nice club.”
The Toffees have their new ground and a few new players sorted, but whilst there’s time left in the transfer window, they are looking to conclude one of their longest transfer sagas of the summer.
Everton still leading the way for Dibling signing
Everton are still in talks to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, and despite interest from other clubs, they are the only ones currently in negotiations. Everton previously placed a bid worth £27 million that Southampton rejected, with their asking price being cited at £40 million.
And the latest update comes via Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel. It had been previously theorised that Everton’s loan signing of Jack Grealish was for the club’s alternative to Dibling, but Romano has revealed that negotiations are still ongoing.
Dibling has been a difficult deal for Everton to get done. At first, Southampton were claiming to have a £100 million price tag on Dibling, which they now seem to have dropped to a more reasonable figure. However, Everton are now facing competition for the transfer. Romano went on to add that Tottenham are holding internal talks regarding Dibling as they see Morgan Rogers as a difficult transfer to complete, and they’ve had their pursuit of Eberechi Eze hijacked by Arsenal.
Where the deal may become easier is on the personal side of things, as Everton already has a working relationship with Dibling’s agency ROOF. Everton and ROOF have already worked together this summer for the signing of Thierno Barry from Villarreal.
Dibling and Grealish play to Everton's strengths
Before signing Jack Grealish, Everton already had wingers Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye in the squad. The main problem for Moyes is that all three of these players prefer to play on the left-hand side. With Dibling, the boss would have the option of playing either a traditional right-winger or an inverted right-winger, and rotating them mid-game may catch teams by surprise, allowing Everton to create chances.
If they successfully bring in Dibling, they will also have brought in two forwards who rank among the top 14% for fouls won per 90 (with Grealish being in the top 2.5%).
This will give Moyes’s side plenty of set-piece opportunities. Last season, Everton ranked as the joint most dangerous team on set pieces, alongside Arsenal, with 8 set-piece goals. If they can fend off Tottenham and complete this deal, then the signings of Dibling and Grealish will offer new ways for Everton to attack the opposition, as well as providing them with more opportunities to play to their strengths with set pieces.
Arsenal's clash with Newcastle United turned ugly on Sunday as Mikel Arteta was forced to restrain one of his coaching staff who clashed with Joelinton at full-time. The Gunners came from behind to beat the Magpies 2-1 as Eddie Howe's side continue to struggle at the bottom half of the league table after registering just one win in six games in the Premier League this season.
Arteta had to restrain his assistant
Mikel Arteta was forced to get involved in a post-match tussle between one of his assistant coaches and Newcastle star Joelinton. As the coaching staff of both clubs were exchanging pleasantries following the exciting Premier League clash at St James' Park, Joelinton angrily approached the Gunners bench and confronted the coach, who, according to , was Miguel Molina. Arteta quickly got in between the two and separated them, before putting his arm around Molina and dragging him away from the scene.
Arsenal were trailing at half-time as Nick Woltemade scored the opening goal in the 34th minute. Mikel Merino then came off the bench in the second half and scored the equaliser in the 84th minute before Gabriel Magalhaes scored the winner in injury time. The win helped the Gunners reduce their gap with league leaders Liverpool to two points, who had lost to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Newcastle's injury setback
Newcastle dealt a major injury blow during the Arsenal clash as Tino Livramento was stretchered off the pitch after going down on the ground awkwardly following a callous challenge from William Saliba in the air. Howe later confirmed that the full-back will face a lengthy lay-off.

Tottenham could turn to London rivals Chelsea in search of reinforcements this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, with contact made over signing one Blues player who’s set to leave Stamford Bridge.
Spurs’ need for reinforcements before the transfer deadline on September 1 is indisputable.

Having lost club legend Son Heung-min to LAFC and James Maddison to a serious knee injury this week, with Dejan Kulusevski also still out for a “long time” too, manager Thomas Frank is in danger of entering the 2025/2026 campaign desperately short of attacking outlets.
Their need for a new forward signing has dramatically escalated in the last few days, especially following confirmation that Maddison has ruptured his ACL and requires surgery, with the Englishman now expected to miss most of the campaign.
FFC Spurs – James Maddison
“I think we are definitely in the market in general,” Frank said about summer transfers, in the aftermath of their 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
“Of course, when players get a long-term injury we need to look into that, but generally we are in the market, yes. Nobody feels close or far away. I’m not saying anything before there’s anything that is completely 100%.”
There isn’t exactly much urgency from Frank here as the Dane attempts to quell panic and let technical director Johan Lange do his work behind-the-scenes, but Spurs need a new attacker desperately – something he’ll be acutely aware of.
Since the announcement of Maddison’s lengthy injury lay-off, a flurry of reports have linked Spurs with a wide array of attacking options.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tottenham have already had a bid rejected for Como forward Nico Paz, while it is also believed that contact was made for Man City star Jack Grealish earlier this week amid Everton’s talks for the 29-year-old (Fabrizio Romano).
Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott is another candidate to reinforce Spurs’ attacking line, but he may not be for much longer as RB Leipzig advance a move for the 22-year-old, so Lange will need to formalise the club’s interest soon.
According to Romano, Spurs are also making contingency plans in the event Richarlison leaves.
Tottenham make contact over signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson
The reliable reporter, via X, now claims that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is on their shortlist of potential replacements for the Brazilian.
It isn’t just interest, either, with Romano revealing that Tottenham have made contact over signing Jackson – who’s set to be one of the next “big players” moving on in this summer’s striker domino.
The Senegalese commands a rumoured valuation of £80-£100 million, according to Sky Sports, and Daniel Levy is very unlikely at best to green-light what would be a club-record deal for Jackson considering Chelsea’s need to sell.
The Lilywhites will almost certainly look to negotiate a lower fee for him, should Richarlison leave, and they decide to move.
Jackson was actually called one of Chelsea’s most important players last season by Joe Cole, but the arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap means he’ll struggle for game time next season – making a move away the best option for all parties.
da realbet: Philippe Clement knows that in order to bring in his own transfer targets to Glasgow Rangers this summer, he will be expected to move on several first team players.
da luck: This may be easier said than done, especially as there appears to be interest in a player who spent the second half of last season out on loan in the Netherlands – Sam Lammers.
Beale signing could be set to leave Rangers
The Dutchman joined FC Utrecht in January and proceeded to score 11 goals in just 20 matches for the Eredivisie side between then and the end of the campaign, putting his dismal showings in Glasgow firmly behind him.
This led to links that they were going to make the move permanent when the summer came around, although Lammers would have to take a pay cut in order to make a move happen.
Now, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal international, Twente are now lining up a move for the former Atalanta forward in order to bolster their squad.
The Light Blues are seeking a fee of around £2.5m in order to part ways with Lammers, which means they will lose around £500k on the Dutchman, having spent £3m to sign him last summer.
Rangers forward Sam Lammers.
Selling the 26-year-old is the best for both parties this summer, allowing Lammers to continue his remarkable form while giving Clement a licence to go out and sign a more able replacement.
Sam Lammers' total cost at Rangers
The Ibrox side were in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements last summer as Michael Beale lost the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. This meant a move for Lammers, who joined in June, but it was a move which soon turned sour.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt gem was taking home around £18k-per-week, as per Salary Sport, with that figure notably more than both Abdallah Sima (£8.5k-per-week) and John Souttar (£8.1k-per-week) combined.
That is startling considering on-loan hero Sima netted 16 times in all competitions last season after cementing himself as a leading figure at Ibrox, while Souttar held the fort defensively after making 41 appearances in all competitions.

Lammers made 31 appearances for the Gers yet managed to find the back of the net on just two occasions, both coming in the Premiership.
Among his teammates, the forward ranked just 13th for goals and assists (three) in the league while also ranking in a lowly 18th position for big chances created (one), 28th for key passes per game (0.3) and sixth for successful dribbles per game (1.1), clearly proving that he wasn’t good enough succeed in Glasgow.
Rangers can fund rebuild by selling a flop who's worth more than Cantwell
Rangers must sell a player they only bought last summer to fund a summer rebuild
ByRoss Kilvington May 20, 2024
Additionally, Lammers cost Rangers £1.5m per goal scored, which is yet more evidence of just how poor a signing he turned out to be.
This doesn’t mean that he is a bad player, far from that. His form in the Netherlands has demonstrated that when Lammers is playing within his comfort zone, he can be excellent.
Clearly, Scottish football proved to be far too physical for him to really showcase his wonderful technical abilities and this was his downfall.
Recouping £2.5m for him might be one of the best pieces of transfer business Clement does this summer, especially considering how badly he performed at the Light Blues.
Gary Neville has warned Manchester United they face finishing "eighth or ninth" unless they sign a new goalkeeper to replace Andre Onana.
Neville wants new United goalkeeper
Onana criticised for regular mistakes
Linked with two world-class shot-stoppers

WHAT HAPPENED?
Neville says United must sign a new goalkeeper if they're to avoid another disappointing season. Former Inter and Ajax star Onana has endured two error-strewn campaigns since moving to Old Trafford and had made eight mistakes leading to goals in all competitions by April earlier this year, more than any other Premier League shot-stopper.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
There have been links with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma and Neville believes his old team need to bring one of them in. Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are the current options for manager Ruben Amorim if he were to drop Onana from his starting XI.
WHAT NEVILLE SAID
Neville said on the podcast: "You've got to get a goalkeeper. If you've got a goalkeeper and a midfield player, I think fifth or sixth will be achievable. I think without a goalkeeper, it's eighth or ninth.
"That is the number one most difficult position in English football, Manchester United goalkeeper. I think it's the most scrutiny that anybody comes under."
"Donnarumma or Martinez. When they said about Martinez from Villa earlier in the season, I wanted him. His personality. He's got guts. He's got that presence."

Martinez remains a Villa player despite appearing to wave goodbye to the club's supporters at the end of last season. Donnarumma, meanwhile, is being pushed out of PSG after Lucas Chevalier was snapped up from Lille and the Italy international's agent has admitted his client is interested in a move to the Premier League.
Ipswich Town have not been in England’s top flight since 2002, with the Tractor Boys becoming Championship regulars over the last two decades.
Things hit a new low in 2019 when they sank to the third tier for the first time in nearly 30 years. Paul Lambert’s side finished rock bottom of the Championship and spent four years in League One before Kieran McKenna took them up in his first full season at the helm.
And rather than focus on consolidating their second-tier status like Plymouth Argyle, who beat them to the League One title last year, Ipswich sought even bigger dreams, with the team securing a return to the Premier League after defeating Huddersfield Town on the final day of the Championship season.
It has been a remarkable campaign from all those involved at Portman Road. But who are the players that have taken the Tractor Boys this far, and who could shine for them in the Premier League next season?
Football FanCast takes a look at their current squad to have featured in at least one game, ranked by their Championship goal involvement during the 2023/24 season, with the help of stats from WhoScored.

Christian Walton Goalkeeper
Christian Walton was gifted the last few moments of Ipswich's promotion campaign, having spent the league season looking on from the subs' bench after recovering from injury early on. He can now say he played his part on the pitch, though whether he can truly claim to have gone the whole year without conceding might take some convincing.
Sone Aluko Forward
Sone Aluko is one of Ipswich’s more experienced players, and although he played a minimal part in their promotion push with just one league appearance off the bench, he remains an important figure for the team off the pitch.
He also scored in the Tractor Boys’ EFL Cup victory over Bristol Rovers back in August.
Gerrard Buabo Forward
With just three Championship minutes to his name this term, Gerrard Buabo has been firmly on the fringes of the first team in recent months. But given he was also handed runouts in Ipswich’s FA Cup run, the 18-year-old could yet be in McKenna’s long-term plans.
The highest points tallies in Championship history
Some teams truly go up in style…
ByCharlie Smith May 17, 2025 Dominic Ball Midfielder
Dominic Ball found minutes hard to come by this season, but remains a trusted member of the squad after helping the club to promotion from League One.
Ball has struggled with injuries which have restricted his time in Ipswich colours, though he is an experienced player at this level, having previously turned out for QPR and Rotherham United, as well as Rangers when the Scottish giants were in the Championship.
Janoi Donacien Defender
St Lucia international Janoi Donacien is another who has been unlucky with injury, as a groin problem has severely derailed his campaign, having been a mainstay as Ipswich won promotion from League One. He started each of Ipswich’s opening three games but has not featured for the first team since November.
Lewis Travis Midfielder
Lewis Travis became a useful option for McKenna’s side since joining on loan in January from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
Yet to lose in Ipswich colours, Travis’ highlight arguably came on his debut when his defence-splitting pass helped Kayden Jackson to score a vital equaliser in their comeback win over Sunderland.
Vaclav Hladky Goalkeeper
Vaclav Hadky
Vaclav Hladky clocked up more minutes under his belt than any other Ipswich player, with the Czech shot-stopper playing all bar the final seconds of their final-day victory.
A vital component of the team’s success this year, Hladky is also no stranger to a yellow card – he picked up three in Ipswich’s opening six games. However, he has also been impressive in penalty shootouts at his previous clubs, so could be worth considering as a budget goalkeeper in next season’s Fantasy League.
Cameron Humphreys Midfielder
Cameron Humphreys became a key player in last year’s promotion run, but had to be patient for opportunities this term, having mainly featured in Ipswich’s cup fixtures.
Humphreys’ best moment in his limited Championship minutes this year came in the dramatic 2-2 draw at Birmingham City in November, when he kept Omari Hutchinson’s cross alive before Marcus Harness superbly volleyed home.
Axel Tuanzebe Defender
Axel Tuanzebe made his name at Manchester United, and via loan spells in the Championship and Italy’s Serie A, the DR Congo defender joined Ipswich’s promotion push after finding himself without a club in the summer.
His versatility has come to the fore in more recent months, with the defender filling in at right-back in 12 of Ipswich’s last 14 games, of which they lost just one.
Brandon Williams Defender
Another talent from Man Utd’s production line is Brandon Williams, who has spent the current season on loan at Portman Road. Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, he has suffered multiple injury setbacks this term.
He had started the season in impressive fashion, too, having grabbed an important equaliser at Huddersfield Town before scoring again in Ipswich’s win over Preston in October, all while ending on the winning side in eight of his first ten matches.
Former England batsman alleges structural racism within the game

Michael Carberry, the former England batsman, has claimed “cricket is rife with racism” and that “the people running the game don’t care about black people”.Talking in light of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Carberry told the podcast that such an event came as no surprise to him and served as an “indicator of where life is right now”.Reflecting on his career in cricket, Carberry suggested he “could have played on” but had tired of being seen as “the angry black man” in a sport where white people had all the power.ALSO READ: ICC to use ‘common sense’ if players pay tribute to George Floyd”I’ve been pulled over by the police just because I’m black,” Carberry said. “What you see in Minneapolis is just a normal day. A lot more happens that’s not talked about.”This slogan ‘black lives matter’… they’ve never mattered. That’s why we’re still talking about racism. Nothing has changed. It’s another day in the life of a black man.”Cricket is rife with racism. The issue you have in cricket is, the people running the game don’t care about black people in it. Black people are not important to the structure of English cricket.”If you look around English cricket at the moment, where the important decisions are made, name one black man in those positions? You’re talking the Andrew Strauss or Ashley Giles roles. Which black man has ever had the opportunity to make the big decisions on English cricket? Not one.”Then scale down. I know people who are more than equipped to do the job. If I was a young black boy now, who am I looking at that can inspire me?”Carberry also suggested other non-white players had experienced similar frustrations, but chose not to mention them through fear of being portrayed as trouble-makers. And he revealed he had effectively been forced out of one county club – he declined to say which – after an altercation with a coach following racially inappropriate comments.”If you ask Moeen [Ali] and Rash [Adil Rashid] about their issues in the game, understandably they are not going to come out and say, because they are in the set-up.”This is the decision most people of colour have to make all the time. WHAT HAPPENED?
The Blues forked out €15m (£13m/$16m) to secure his services from the Brazilian outfit. However, Angelo spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Strasbourg – Chelsea's sister club in Ligue 1 – where he scored four goals in 21 Ligue 1 appearances, showcasing glimpses of his talent.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Chelsea have now transferred Angelo to Al-Nassr as part of their extensive summer clearout in a €23m (£19.4m/$25.4m) move. His departure makes him the 26th player to leave Stamford Bridge either on loan or through a permanent transfer as they have been actively reshuffling their squad in a bid to balance the books and achieve a zero net spend by the end of the transfer window. The youngster has signed a five-year deal with the Saudi giants and Chelsea will receive a part of any future proceeds made from his sale.

Angelo's rise to prominence began in Brazil, where he made his professional debut for Santos at the tender age of 15 years and 308 days, making him the youngest player ever to feature in the Brazilian Serie A. His early success continued as he became the youngest player to score in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition, netting a goal at just 16 years old in 2021.

WHAT NEXT FOR ANGELO & CHELSEA?
Angelo is expected to make his debut for Al-Nassr and line up alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on September 13, after the international break, in a highly anticipated match against Al-Ahli. Meanwhile, Chelsea will return to action against Bournemouth a day later in the Premier League.
There was plenty of change at Celtic last summer as Brendan Rodgers returned for a second spell at the club, whilst a number of players moved in and out of Parkhead.
Central defender Carl Starfelt, who had been a rock at the heart of Ange Postecoglou's defence, was sold to LaLiga side Celta Vigo after the 2022/23 campaign.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers applauds the fans.
The Hoops responded by signing Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki on permanent deals, whilst Nat Phillips joined on a short-term loan from Liverpool.
That string of deals has turned out to be a nightmare for Rodgers as Starfelt's value has soared this season and the replacements brought in have failed to nail down a place in the side, as the three defenders have started 11 league matches between them.
Carl Starfelt's value last summer
At the time of his switch to Celta Vigo, FootballTransfers placed the central defender's Expected Transfer Value (xTV) at €2.8m (£2.4m) after his performances for the Bhoys last season.
Starfelt, who John Hartson described as "pivotal" to the club's success, featured in 28 of the club's 38 Scottish Premiership matches under Postecoglou last term.
The Sweden international made 2.1 tackles and interceptions per game and won 67% of his duels throughout the season to help his team collect 11 clean sheets and the top-flight title.
Celtic defender Carl Starfelt.
That came after the 28-year-old star had started 34 league matches under the Australian boss and helped the side to keep 18 clean sheets during the previous season.
These statistics show that Starfelt was a key performer at the back for Celtic as he was a regular starter across two seasons at Parkhead, and secured two league titles in the process.
Carl Starfelt's current market value
At the time of writing (16/02/2024), FootballTransfers has his xTV at €4.9m (£4.2m) and this means that his value has soared by 75% since the start of the season.
It has rocketed up from the initial €2.8m he was valued at upon signing for Celta Vigo last summer, which shows that the experienced defender made the right decision.
The 28-year-old former Hoops star wanted to test himself in the Spanish top-flight and his soaring market value suggests that he has passed that test.

Starfelt has started 17 matches in LaLiga so far this season for his new club, which means that the talented battler has started six more games than the three players signed in his position have for Celtic combined in the Premiership.
He has been a regular starter and dominant performer, as shown by the statistics in the table above, at the back for the Spanish side, whilst Rodgers' two permanent additions, now that Phillips has returned to Liverpool, have not adequately replaced him.
Celtic are level on points with Rangers in the Premiership table as it stands and have conceded four more goals than their closest rivals, which may leave them regretting allowing Starfelt to leave last summer.
Rodgers appears to have had a mare by both failing to convince the impressive defender to remain at Parkhead and then failing to bring in quality replacements for him as neither Nawrocki nor Lagerbielke have been regular starters.
